How does Command X work?

The app overrides the normal Command+X shortcut when Finder is active, runs copy, and then triggers Finder's native Option+Command+V move shortcut when you paste.

Is Command X needed on macOS 14 or later?

No. The feature is built into macOS 14.0 and later.

What limitations does Command X have?

You cannot cut a filename while editing it in Finder, and you cannot cut while the Finder search field is focused.
